FLC Group eyes 70-storey twin towers in Haiphong

The Hanoi-based developer is seeking opportunities to expand real estate business in the northern port city.

FLC Group has tabled plans to develop a number of real estate projects in Haiphong while its Bamboo Airways is looking to launch international flights from the port city.

In a recent meeting with Haiphong municipal leaders, FLC representatives have expressed keen interest in the development of a skyscraper project in the city. 

The group is looking to build a twin towers in a 17,800 square metre plot at No. 4 Tran Phu street, where the city is finetuning auction procedures for the development of a 70-storey hotel, office and commercial complex. 

Once built, this complex will be among the tallest in the country. Currently, Vinpearl Hotel in the tallest building in Haiphong, boasting a 45-floor tower. 

FLC is also pushing for the municipal authorities' approval of its plan to develop a $228 million tourism complex. The project was proposed two years ago but has not been able to start construction as the development masterplan for the whole area has to be modified. 

FLC has also proposed two new real estate projects in the city, including a complex of a new urban area and ecological resort in Hai An district and a new urban area in Duong Kinh district.

The group, which is fast expanding business beyond property into agriculture, is seeking approval for a 163ha high tech agricultural area in My Duc commune, An Lao district. 

Meanwhile, Bamboo Airways, which is wholly-owned by FLC, has asked for the opening of four domestic routes and four international routes, linking Cat Bi airport in Haiphong with Danang, Ho Chi Minh City, Quy Nhon, Phu Quoc and Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul and Siem Reap.

Bamboo Airways is currently exploiting 14 domestic routes and plans to bring the number to 40 new domestic and international routes this year.

FLC Group chairman Trinh Van Quyet has urged Haiphong authorities to speed up the adjustment of the development masterplan for its tourism project in Do Son.

FLC, which has built resorts in Thanh Hoa and Binh Dinh provinces, is agressively expanding its real estate business in Quang Ninh province. It has completed a golf course, a hotel and a villa complex looking over picturesque Halong Bay, and has recently proposed a number of new real estate and agricultural projects in Quang Ninh.
