Vingroup breaks ground on Hanoi’s iconic exhibition center

By Ha Linh August 30, 2024 | 11:18 AM GMT+7

Vingroup, one of Vietnam's leading conglomerates, has today broke ground on the National Exhibition and Convention Center project in Dong Anh district, Hanoi.

With a total area of 90 hectares, this center will be among the top 10 largest exhibition centers in the world and is expected to become a "new wonder" of the capital city.

The National Exhibition and Convention Center, considered a national key project in the commercial services sector, will replace the old exhibition center in Giang Vo street in the downtown.

Vingroup anticipates that this center will ignite a vibrant Expo economy, similar to the successful models in Dubai (UAE), Frankfurt (Germany), and Fiera Milano (Italy).

Nguyen Viet Quang, CEO of Vingroup, emphasized that today’s groundbreaking event not only demonstrates Vingroup’s commitment to creating an international destination on par with the world’s leading exhibition centers but also lays the foundation for domestic and international businesses to interact, promote, and boost trade.

He also expects the center to contribute to bringing Vietnam to the world and attracting the world to Vietnam.

The project boasts several standout features, including its highly connected location in the northeastern gateway of Hanoi, near Noi Bai Airport. Both domestic and international visitors will have easy access to the center via modern road and air transportation systems, along with the upcoming metro line connecting Dong Anh with the eastern part of the city.

With its scale among the top 10 in the world, the center will become an international destination for leading global trade, exhibition, and conference events.

The indoor exhibition center will be constructed with the symbol of the sacred Kim Quy (Golden Turtle) deity, surrounded by four outdoor exhibition parks covering 20.6 hectares, suitable for large-scale outdoor events.

Once completed, the National Exhibition and Convention Center is expected to rank second globally and lead Asia in outdoor exhibition space. The southeast section of the center will feature commercial services, a hotel complex expected to be managed by Marriott, and high-rise office buildings designed to 5-star standards, creating a prestigious image for the entire complex.

Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, stated that the city would invest in transportation infrastructure, including Tu Lien Bridge, the northern section of Ring Road 3, and metro lines to connect the exhibition center with other areas of Hanoi.
