VinFast publishes car price at sale opening today

By Long Giang November 20, 2018 | 04:25 PM GMT+7

The carmaking arm of Vingroup, Vietnam's biggest conglomerate will open sale and receive orders on its three automobile models and electric scooters branded Klara late today in Hanoi.

Small sized hatchback car Fadil officially launched

In preparation for the sale opening event, VinFast has just disclosed small sized automobile model Fadil at the event to be organized in Thong Nhat park in Hanoi.

This model is developed from Karl Rocks branded cars of Adam Opel AG (Opel) under technology franchising contract signed in middle of this year between VinFast and General Motors, the owner of Germany based prestigious auto manufacturer Opel.

After the partnership, the new Vietnamese car maker said that it would launch next year an all-new, global small car licensed from GM and manufactured and sold under its own brand.

According to the both sides, GM’s operation in Vietnam, including its Hanoi plant, dealership network, and employee base, would be transferred to VinFast by the end of this year.

Also, VinFast would introduce to the Vietnamese customers "two new stars" in the world automobile industry, the prizes awarded at the recently held Paris Motor Show for its two sedan branded Lux A 2.0 and SUV Lux SA 2.0.

Though the price of three models havenot been announced until late today, industry experts predicted that it would be around more attractive than cars of the same segments on the market from foreign invested automobile firms such as Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes.

This partnership means VinFast will not have to start from scratch manufacturing, a dealer network, and a supply chain. VinFast can use the GM facility to produce their car, and access to GM technology could help them lower research and development costs — one of the largest costs in the automotive industry.

Under an economic perspective, experts said that VinFast would use GM's facilities for production and sale of its small sized cars Fadil, whilst its sedan and SUV cars would be produced at a factory on Cat Hai island near Haiphong in north-east Vietnam, which is being invested around $1.5 billion in the first phase of a programme to make cars and electric scooters.

VinFast has recently bought in technology and services from Germany’s BMW, Italian design house Pininfarina, and supplier groups Bosch and Siemens to produce its car models scheduled to be launch late today.

Also VinFast would officially introduce first its smart e-scooters which have six different colors, resulting in a strong impression for viewers in its recently held submerging performance within 30 minutes.

According to VinFast, e-scooters in its first batches would have price ranged between VND21 million (roughly $925) and VND34 million ($1,500) each, around 40 per cent lower than their factual prices.

"Businesses who want to become authorised dealers have to meet conditions such as locations must be on main roads or streets, shops must have a minimum area of 200sq.m and facades a minimum of 10m wide," it stated.

It further added, "VinFast’s first electric scooters are built on a modern assembly line located in an automobile and electric motorbike manufacturing complex in Dinh Vu Cat Hai industrial park in the northern port city of Hai Phong."
