Vietnam Opportunity Fund (VOF), a flagship of VinaCapital, has invested US$32.5 million to acquire a significant minority stake in Ba Huan JSC.

Ba Huan JSC is said to be the leading producer of pasteurised eggs and poultry in Vietnam.

The leading producer of pasteurised eggs and poultry in Vietnam accounts for more than 30 per cent share in the country's egg market, and expects revenue for 2018 to be more than US$90 million.

The company has kept an eye on boosting its operations including importing modern production lines from Europe and conforming to international standards.

Ba Huan JSC operates two fully enclosed industrial poultry farms, including a layer farm with over 1.5 million chickens for commercial egg production, and a broiler farm with over 400,000 chickens for meat production.

Each day, Ba Huan supplies over 1.7 million eggs, delivers over 15,000 chickens, and processes over 25 tonnes of fresh poultry meat. Its products are distributed to over 2,000 agents and points of sales throughout Vietnam.

"Ba Huan has become one of the strongest fresh food brands in Vietnam. Food safety is a concern in the country, and Ba Huan's growth is due to its reputation for producing high-quality and safe foods," said Andy Ho, Managing Director of VOF.

According to Poultry World, the consumption of chicken eggs and duck eggs is increasing in Vietnam. Chicken consumption is also growing at an annual rate of 8.6 per cent, reported by DBS Bank. By 2021, the consumption of chicken per capita is projected to increase to 17kg from 8kg as in 2015.
