Vietnam hopes the Netherlands to help build the airport city

The Prime Minister said the model of environmentally friendly airport city is highy concerned in Vietnam.

"Vietnamese Government has directed the authorities to construct the airport city and hoped the Dutch partners to help and support Vietnam in this area," said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc when attending the business conference focusing on the topic of smart city and airport city, on the visit to the Netherlands.

Speaking at the meeting, the PM stated that Vietnam was planning to apply and develop a smart city. The PM hoped that the Dutch partners would share their experience in this area. The model would be applied in Binh Duong province.

Talking to businessmen at the Vietnam- Netherlands business forum, the PM said that the Netherlands was one of the leading trade partners and export markets of Vietnam in Europe. The total population of the two countries is about 100 million, but the two-way trade has grown to over US$7 billion.

By March 2017, the investment of the Netherlands in Vietnam had reached US$7.65 billion and accounted for 35.5% of the total investment capital in Vietnam.

"Vietnam's business environment is fertile enough to sprout the top Asian businesses," the PM said. According to the business environment ranking of World Bank, from 2016 to 2017, Vietnam went up in the ranking from 91 to 82 out of 190 countries. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), the competitiveness of Vietnam's economy ranks 60th out of 138 countries.

According to the PM, if Vietnam can take advantage of opportunities and promote diplomatic advantages, especially in the context of signing Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement, both countries can fully exceed the accomplishments achieved and achieve a comprehensive economic cooperation between ASEAN and EU.

At theforum, the PM also witnessed the exchange of 11 cooperation documents between theenterprisesof two countries, worth about US$700million.
