The low cost carrier will be operating four new routes connecting Phu Quoc to various domestic and international destinations, to serve the rising number of tourists and investors attracted to the Pearl Island of Vietnam.

The announcement of the new routes has been made within the context of the Kien Giang Investment Promotion Conference entitled ‘Kien Giang: Potentials, opportunities for investment and sustainable development’ held on July 29.
Vietjet Air, in particular, will open two new domestic routes connecting attractive tourist and investment destinations in Vietnam, namely the Phu Quoc – Danang and Phu Quoc – Van Don, with the frequency of seven flights per week. While the former flight path will come into service at the end of 2019, the later will start as soon as midyear next year.
Meanwhile, two new international routes connecting Phu Quoc to Chengdu and Chongqing in China will also be operated with three round-trip flights per week from the end of this year.
In addition, Vietjet’s two existing international routes, Phu Quoc – Hong Kong (China) and Phu Quoc – Incheon (Seoul, South Korea), will have their frequency increase to six flights and 14 flights a week, respectively, from the winter, in a bid to meet customers’ demands during the peak season of Phu Quoc.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has welcomed the participation of investors and leading companies like Vietjet in the economic development of Kien Giang province.
Following its first flight to the island in 2012, Vietjet has continuously expanded its network to link Phu Quoc to many provinces, cities, and other countries in the region, including China, South Korea, India and so on.
Vietjet’s flights have proven to be an important bridge to foster trade and tourism at the island, helping enrich the economy of Kien Giang province and Phu Quoc in particular.
Vietjet currently operates around 400 flights daily, carrying more than 80 million passengers to date, with 120 routes covering destinations across Vietnam and overseas locations such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Mainland China, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia.
