US giant backs Vietnam’s bid to lead ASEAN gas trade
With strategic deals and strong policy alignment from the Vietnamese government, Excelerate Energy aims to anchor Vietnam’s LNG ambitions in the region.
Vietjet Air has recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement worth $6.5 billion with Safran - CFM and a $800 million - financing agreement with GECAS France.
In details, this airline and the Safran Group - CFM signed a memorandum of comprehensive cooperation on the provision of 312 engines as well as maintenance and technical services for 148 airplanes of Vietjet Air.
The Safran Group - CFM will also provide training on technical staff and research applications for Vietjet Air.
Moreover, the billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao's airline signed a contract to lease and buy A321neo airplanes worth $800 million.
Vietjet Air currently operates 56 airplanes including A320 and A321 with more than 385 flights per day. After covering the domestic routes, this airline has recently opened more international routes.
In recent years, Vietjet Air has been very active in signing procurement contracts and financing contracts to get more aircraft.
In July last year, Vietjet signed a financing agreement with German Aircraft and Asset Management Group, GOAL, to purchase four new A321 airplanes.
In September 2016, Vietjet Air ordered 20 Airbus aircraft including Airbus A321 CEO and NEO with a total value of $2.39 billion and signed a contract to buy 100 Boeing 737 MAX 200 aircraft worth $11.3 billion.
It is estimated that this airline will receive an additional 180 airplanes within the next six years. Since 2011, Vietjet Air has transported more than 55 million passengers with 82 domestic and international routes.
Commenting on the signing ceremony with Safran - CFM, Dinh Viet Phuong, Deputy General Director of Vietjet, said: "We believe that with the advantages of technology, these new engines will help raise the capacity of the Vietjet and help our company to realize its global business strategy."
