Sweden-based Comvik exposed interest in becoming MobiFone’s strategic partner

TheLEADERChairman of Comvik has expressed the interest in becoming the strategic investor of Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services One Member Limited Liability Company in its upcoming equitization.

At the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue at the Government Office, CEO of Comvik Vietnam Zaman said that with the strong technological and capital foundations, the corporation was willing to support the Government of Vietnam in privatizing Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services One Member Limited Liablity Company (commonly known as MobiFone).

Comvik is implementing a 6G technology transformation program and non-cash transaction applications.

Currently, Sweden is the leading country in this technology with the number of non-cash transactions accounting for 90 per cent.

"Comvik wants to support Vietnam to become the forefront of technological conversion. Comvik has set up a business plan for digital conversion, which is expected to generate reserves of $80 billion - $100 billion within six years," said Zaman. 

Earlier in August 2014, when MobiFone separated from VNPT, a representative of Comvik also met with the Ministry of Information and Communications to express the desire to become MobiFone's strategic partner through the equitization. 

The Government of Vietnam has assigned the Ministry of Information and Communications and MobiFone to prepare for its initial public offering (IPO) in 2019 as well as formulate the equitization plan for MobiFone.
