Solutions to Cai Lay toll station to be finalized by December 22

By Tan Nguyen December 12, 2017 | 06:10 AM GMT+7

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has requested agencies involved in Cai Lay toll station to quickly submit their detailed elevation on pros and cons of three proposed options for solutions to the toll stations by December 22.

Cai Lay toll station

Agencies involved in Cai Lay toll station include Public-Private Partnership Investment Project Management Department (PPP Dept.), Directorate for Roads of Vietnam, National Highway No.1 Tien Giang Investment Co., Ltd, Project Management Unit No. 8 and Transport Engineering Design Inc.

Three options for solutions proposed to Cai Lay toll station are as follows:

In option 1, the current location of the toll station remains unchanged. Moreover, additional measures (if necessary) will be taken to ensure the fee collection.

In option 2, one more toll station will be established in the Cai Lay town bypass, to collect the fees to return the initial investment in construction of the bypass and improvement of existing National Highway No.1 (NH1) section running through Cai Lay town.

In option 3, the toll station will be moved to the bypass. The State refunds the investment capital expended in improvement of the existing NH1 section to the investor and will regulate traffic diversion in the NH1 section.

MoT also requests involved agencies to collect sufficient data on the number of vehicles traveling through the bypass and the existing NH1 section based on each option.

National Highway No.1 Tien Giang Investment Co., Ltd. and Project Management Unit No. 8 must submit the report to Directorate for Roads of Vietnam by December 12. Then, Directorate for Roads of Vietnam must submit the report and propose the option for solutions to MoT by December 17. PPP Dept. must report to MoT by December 22.
