Samsung becomes the largest Vietnamese firm whilst Vingroup tops the biggest Vietnamese private ones

TheLEADERVietnam Report Joint Stock Company (Vietnam Report) has just released two lists of top 500 largest Vietnamese enterprises and top 500 largest Vietnamese private enterprises in 2017 with top placements belonging to Samsung and Vingroup, respectively.

According to Vietnam Report, rankings were objective and in compliance with current international standards.

Vingroup tops the list of top 500 largest Vietnamese private enterprises in 2017, followed by Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company (THACO), Vietnam Diary product JSC (Vinamilk) and DOJI Gold & Gems Group JSC.

The others amongst top 10 largest private companies include Masan Group, Mobile World Investment JSC, FPT Corporation, Hoa Phat Group Joint Stock Company, Intimex Group JSC, Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank).

Top 500 largest enterprises in Vietnam also had a disturbance that Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd tops the list, followed by Vietnam Electricity Corporation and Vietnam Oil and Gas Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam).

The Military Telecommunications Group (Vietttel) and the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) rank fourth and fifth, respectively.

According to Vietnam Report, the private companies have contributed to 32.3 per cent of economic growth in 2017, which partly reflects the Government’s efforts to create a favorable business environment for all economic sectors and promote equitization, restructuring of state-owned enterprises.

Large private enterprises have also made positive reviews of improvements in the business and investment environment regarding legal issues, access to capital, access to land in 2017.

However, administrative procedures and tax issues still bother many businesses. 55  percent of firms rated Vietnam’s administrative procedures at medium and poor levels, respectively.
