Preparation wrap up for APEC Summit 2017 tops security and order

The preparation for the APEC 2017 Leaders’ week in Danang has been completed, creating a new and modern “face” for the city.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2017 (APEC 2017) which attracts leaders of 21 economies in the world will be held in Danang from November 6 to 11. This is the place for leaders to discuss topics related to the economic development, enterprise community, innovations in business. 

APEC is also an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to exchange the innovations, strategies to develop with large enterprises from all over the world. According to Chairman of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vu Tien Loc, nearly 2,000 CEOs and 3,000 businesses of Vietnam has registered to join discussions and forums at the CEO Summit.

Currently, the preparation for the event has almost completed, with infrastructure being the top priority. Danang’s agencies and private investors have promoted to improve, upgrade and complete the constructions in the city to serve the APEC 2017 leaders’ week as well as create a new and modern “face” for the city.

Lately, Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang made an inspection visit to Danang to ensure top security and order for the APEC 2017. The President highlighted that ensuring security and order for the APEC 2017 Summit is of paramount importance. The delegations of the APEC member economies have greatly appreciated Vietnam’s preparations. However, the relevant forces need to complete security plans as soon as possible to cope with every bad situation.

Besides, the Da Nang International Airport is now ready to welcome delegations with a new spacious and modern international terminal, and an expanded airplane parking area of 75 parking spots that will ensure the parking scale for private aircrafts from the APEC economies.

The construction of the International Press Centre, where about 3,000 domestic and international reporters will work during the event, has also completed. The Centre has a nice and modern design, with functional and convenient rooms, equipment and services for reporters.

The main activities of the event will take place in the InterContinental Sun Peninsula Resort, Ariyana Danang Exhibition and Convention Centre, Furama Resort Danang, Sheraton Danang Resort, Tien Son Sports Arena, Danang Convention Centre, Pullman Danang Beach Resort, and Vinpearl Danang Resort and Villas. Da Nang’s hotel system, especially luxurious hotels and resorts along the beach have also prepared accommodate all the delegates.

The main activities of the CEO Summit will take place in the luxury hotels and resorts in Danang.

The transportation in the city has been also upgraded since 2016. Sidewalks have been renovated, and trees and grass have been added. Despite being constructed slowlier than expected, the Dien Bien Phu-Nguyen Tri Phuong tunnel is now ready to serve the delegations.

Danang's leaders expect that after APEC 2017, there will be a huge wave of investment in Danang, especially in services and tourism, contributing significantly to the development of the city in particular and Vietnam in general.
