Nearly 2,000 tax-free automobiles imported to Vietnam last week

The number of tax free cars with nine or fewer seats imported last week mostly originated from Thailand and Indonesia with 712 and 397 units, respectively.

1,928 cars of various kinds were imported to Vietnam last week

Statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs shows that last week (from September 7 to 13), the total number of automobiles imported to Vietnam decreased by 14.8 per cent compared to the previous week.

Last week, Vietnamese automobile enterprises imported to Vietnam 1,928 units of automobiles with the total value of about $43.37 million. Whereas, the previous week experienced the import of up to 2,264 units worth $53.7 million.

Automobiles entering Vietnam last week were mostly manufactured in Thailand with 1,155 units. There were also 562 units from Indonesia and 77 units from China.

Automobiles imported to Vietnam last week were mostly cars with nine or fewer seats with 1,295 units worth $27.3 million, accounting for 67.2 per cent of the total number of imported automobiles.

These cars were mostly manufactured in Thailand with 712 units, accounting for 55 per cent of the total number of nine or fewer seat cars entering Vietnam last week. There were also 397 units of this type imported from Indonesia, 72 units from China and some from Germany and Japan.

Last week experienced no unit of over nine-seater automobile entering Vietnam while 615 units of trucks were imported to Vietnam worth about $13.07 million in total. Specifically, 443 units of these cars were manufactured in Thailand, accounting for up to 72 per cent.

In terms of special-purpose vehicles, Vietnamese enterprises imported only 18 units with the total value of $3 million, compared to 215 units in the previous week. Ten units of these vehicles were from South Korea, five units were from China…
