Listing out senior management levels offered by VinFast which pursues a top-down headhunting approach

"In terms of personnel, VinFast has persuaded leading experts in the field of automobile production from BMW, General Motors, Bosch to join in VinFast’s management board,” said Vingroup’s Vice chairman Nguyen Viet Quang.

Thus, the new expert that Quang has mentioned is none other than James B. Deluca - former vice president of global manufacturing of General Motors. Vingroup has recently appointed him as General Director of VinFast.

Earlier this month, local newspapers reported that Vingroup had successfully recruited Vo Quang Hue, a former general director of Robert Bosch Engineering & Business Solutions Vietnam Company Ltd to hold the position of deputy general director of the automobile division of VinFast.

On September 3, Vo Quang Hue wrote on his LinkedIn account that "I’d also want to take this opportunity to inform you that I joined VinGroup as Deputy CEO – Automotive, overseeing this VinFast project, starting a few days ago."

Along with that, Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice president of the corporation will also be one of the important factors that Pham Nhat Vuong trusts to steer the ship of VinFast. Before joining Vingroup in 2008, she had worked for Lehman Brothers for eight years.

These actions prove that VinFast is pursuing a top-down management style. This is the process of upper management or the chief executive officer reaching independent conclusions that change or improve the workplace or business systems. 

These conclusions are then handed down to employees, who work to accomplish the goals on their own or with other employees. Some lower-level managers may have input into how to accomplish the end goal, but they may not have much authority to change policies without approval from the highest level of management.

Making decisions from the top allows leaders to be clear on goals and expectations. It also gives employees more time to focus on work duties instead of attending meetings discussing potential directions of the company. When a strong leader is at the forefront, managers can quickly and effectively take charge, assign tasks to teams or employees, and establish solid deadlines. Autocratic leadership gives companies a drive that they might not have otherwise.

Top-down decisions are often successful when they are highly researched by the leadership. All aspects must be taken into consideration, especially how a decision will affect employees. This is why autocratic leadership is especially beneficial to organizations with talented and knowledgeable leaders.
