Last week, the number of automobiles imported to Vietnam reached 3,065 units, nearly 60 per cent higher than the previous week.
Statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs shows that last week (from September 14 to 20), the total number of automobiles imported to Vietnam increased strongly by 59 per cent compared to the previous week.
Last week, Vietnamese automobile enterprises imported to Vietnam 3,065 units of automobiles with the total value of about $66.2 million. Whereas, the previous week experienced the import of 1,928 units worth $43.4 million.
Automobiles entering Vietnam last week were mostly manufactured in Thailand with 2,331 units. There were also 592 units from Indonesia, 61 units from Japan and 49 units from Germany.
Automobiles imported to Vietnam last week were mostly cars with nine or fewer seats with 1,553 units worth $32.2 million, accounting for half of the total number of imported automobiles.
These cars were mostly manufactured in Thailand with 816 units, accounting for 53 per cent of the total number of nine or fewer seat cars entering Vietnam last week. There were also 592 units of this type imported from Indonesia, 57 units from Japan and 48 units from Germany, etc.
Last week experienced no unit of over nine-seater automobile entering Vietnam while up to 1,487 units of trucks were imported to Vietnam worth about $32.2 million in total.
In terms of special-purpose vehicles, Vietnamese enterprises imported only 45 units with the total value of $1.75 million. Thirty units of these vehicles were from Thailand, five units were from China.
