Hai Phong calls for hefty investment in two billion-dollar projects of railroad and industrial park

The construction project of Railway to Hai Phong International Port has a length of 57 km and width of 1.43 metres under investment forms of PPP (public-private partnership) and BOT (build - operate - transfer).

Previously, based on the proposal of the Railway Project Management Unit (RPMU) under the Ministry of Transport (MoT), the railway to Hai Phong international port will be newly built with two railway lines.

The main line, which is 35.7 km long, starts from Hung Vuong station (equivalent to Km95 + 215 of the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway), passes through the Dinh Vu industrial park, crosses Nam Trieu sea and arrives at Hai Phong international port in Cat Hai island.

The secondary one which has the length of 7.78 km, starts from Nam Dinh Vu station (Km23 +940) and arrives at Dinh Vu industrial park.

The main items of the project include the construction of 16.56km of railway, 26.9km of bridges (including 6.7km of Nam Trieu sea-crossing), seven new stations.

The project has a total investment of US$1.6 billion, in which Japanese ODA loans are expected to be called for investment. The project is scheduled to be deployed for the period of 2016 - 2030.

The Industrial Park for Japanese companies in the North, which has about 300 - 400 hectares in area, is located in Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone.

Earlier, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City announced the master plan on construction of Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone to 2025. According to the plan, Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone, which has a total area of about 22,540 ha, will become a multi-sector economic zone of the North Central Coast and the whole country.
