Recently, in a regular press conference held by Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Deputy Minister, who is also the spokesman, Do Thang Hai claimed that the Central Inspection Commission had announced their conclusion on the case of Ho Thi Kim Thoa.

Accordingly, Thoa was found to violate State regulations while holding the position as Party Committee Secretary, Chairwoman of the Executive Board and General Director of Dien Quang Lamp Joint Stock Company (from January 2004 to May 2010). However, when asked about the specific disciplinary actions, he only ensured that the decision was duly respected. The detailed conclusion would be published later.

Notably, Thoa had seriously violated regulations on business equitization in Dien Quang Lamp Joint Stock Company (DQC). She had bought more shares than the permitted level, violated the share transferring regulations of the company and was accused of abusing her power to enrich her family.

Five members of her family are cited to own a total 11.8 million DQC shares worth VND718 billion (about US$32 million), which accounts for 34,12% of the charter capital of this company. She also misused loan interest exempted from banks worth VND6.7 billion (about US$298,000).

Previously, Thoa had been reprimanded for her personal involvement in appointing Trinh Xuan Thanh to many important positions in Ministry of Industry and Trade. Thanh was notorious for serious violations, including the loss of VND3.2 trillion (about US$145 million) while holding the position as Chairman of the Executive Board of PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC). Thanh fled Vietnam amid allegations and is currently wanted on an international arrest warrant.
