CAAV: Strictly dealing with the illegal trading of passenger information
In the past, the disclosure of customer information occurred.

According to the CAAV, the passenger information in the airline reservation system includes passenger's name, gender, flight schedule and contact number.

Due to the particularity of the aviation industry, ticket agents need passenger's phone numbers to contact in case of a change in flight schedule or to need passenger’s cooperation during the flight such as fulfilling the requirements of pre-flight aviation security, information on delayed luggage, etc.

However, in the past, the disclosure of customer information occurred when taxi firms had their journey information and telephone number for marketing services. This violated the privacy regulations of passengers, annoyed passengers as well as affected the quality of passenger services in the aviation sector.

The CAAV has been taking actions and plans to prevent the disclosure of passenger information. The CAAV send written request to airlines in order to ask them to review the process of importing, storing and managing personal information of passengers as well as the work of monitoring passengers information and then to report the results to CAAV.

In October, 2017, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam had a plan to inspect the process of passenger information security of all airlines. It also proposed the Ministry of Transport to comment to the state agencies so as to approve internet information security for all airlines.

At the same time, the CAAV also recommended that passengers cooperate with them and immediately notify to the CAAV of information such as phone number, location and taxi company in case of receiving marketing services related to the itinerary.
