Announcement of 'serious' wrongdoings made by high-profile top officials of Da Nang City

Violations, including using invalid degrees, accepting cars and houses as gifts from local businesses, committed by the secretary of the central city of Da Nang are serious, adversely affecting the prestige of the Party, according to the Central Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Following the scandals regarding health officials involved in fake cancer drugs and the Ministry of Trade and Industry's official about personal property misrepresentation, this year continues to witness the incident just burst out when the case of using fake degrees on a high-profile top official in Da Nang city.

These incidents show numerous gaps in the process for selection and appointment of cadres. It was only until most of the incidents had been announced, the relevant agencies started the inspection.

At the seventeenth meeting held from September 13 to 16, 2017 in Hanoi, the Central Inspection Commission (CIC) reviewed and concluded some contents on inspection results when there are signs of violation made by some organizations and individuals, including Secretary of Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of Da Nang city.

Nguyen Xuan Anh is a Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of People's Council of Da Nang city.

As the head of the Municipal Party Committee, Anh is mainly responsible for violations and faults of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Commission with the term of 2015-2020.

Anh violated the principles of democratic centralism and regulations of the Party and the State on cadre work; appointed personnel arbitrarily. Anh’s violations have distracted and affected the coalition and unity in the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee.

Anh used a invalid degree, which breaches the standards of commissioners and Party’s regulations.

Anh made wrongdoings on reception and use of cars donated by enterprises and use of two houses of enterprises, causing notoriousness in the society.

Huynh Duc Tho is Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang city.

Tho is jointly responsible for violations and faults of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Commission with the term of 2015-2020.

As the head of Da Nang People’s Committee, Tho takes main responsibilities of violations and faults of land management and urban order.

Tho did not actively propose personnel for appointment in some municipal units to the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Commission as regulated.
