Recently, a cooperation agreement on tourism promotion was signed between Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and Vietnam Post (VNPost, under the Ministry of Information and Communications).

Accordingly, Vietnam’s tourism will be promoted via post products and services such as stamps, postcards, envelopes and calendars. VNPost will assist VNAT in surveying tourism markets while providing post services, receiving and transferring the results of the administrative procedures to VNAT and the relevant authorities.
Besides, VNAT also suggests that foreign tour operators should include post offices with attractive landscapes in the destination lists to enhance tourism marketing.
Speaking at the event, VNAT Director General Nguyen Van Tuan announced that right after the signing ceremony, VNAT will place an order 1,000 stamps as souvenirs for tourists. Both parties will choose from 1,000 to 1,500 post offices in the national system, which are located at favourable positions, to distribute free tourism promotion information to domestic and foreign tourists.
This is the first time that a deal was signed to mark the cooperation between VNAT and VNPost. It is one of the actions that the Vietnamese Government is taking to reach the goal of increasing the tourist number by at least 30% in 2017.
The Vietnamese Government is seizing every opportunity to promote tourism as the Political Bureau has clearly recognized tourism as the driving force of the national economy in the Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW in January 2017. However, in this digital era, this method still needs a lot of backup from online marketing tools.
