Competition Agency authorizes Mobile World acquisition of Tran Anh

The Division of Competition and Consumer Protection (under Ministry of Industry and Trade) has just announced its approval of Mobile World JSC (Mobile World)’s acquisition of Tran Anh Digital World JSC (Tran Anh) despite some concerns it would reduce the number of competitors in the retail market for IT products.

Nguyen Duc Tai, Chairman of Mobile World JSC (MWG), confirmed that MWG “has nearly finished negotiating” on the purchase of an electronics chain, which has been rumoured to be Tran Anh Digital World JSC (TAG). Accordingly, the share price of these two companies has drastically increased ever since.

Domestic, foreign firms eye online retail sector

Online retail is expected to continue increasing, as domestic and foreign retail companies are planning to invest heavily in this field.
