VinFast car factory ready to rock n’ roll

Automobile manufacturer VinFast, a member of Vietnam’s largest private enterprise Vingroup, has been put into operation today in Haiphong, ready for mass production of it cars three months earlier than the initial schedule.

The auto manufacturing plant, which is located in Dinh Vu Industrial Park, has a capacity of 250,000 cars a year in the first phase of production and 500,000 in the second phase.

VinFast has made a record in the world’s automobile industry for being a new car manufacturer that spends merely 21 months for its factory construction and facility installation for mass car production.

In addition to its rapid factory setup, VinFast is also the first automobile factory in Vietnam to have a comprehensive and highly automated production process, with six workshops capable of producing the main components of a car, such as the body shell and the engine, in line with the EU standards.

VinFast has so far taken 10,000 pre-orders for its Sedan, SUV and small hatchback cars before the plant comes into operation.

“I would like to express my deep gratitude to all customers who have ordered our VinFast cars. Your trust and support is so great, we are committed to continuing our efforts to affirm the level and position of the Vietnamese brand in the international arena, we will not disappoint you,” said chairman of Vingroup Pham Nhat Vuong at the inauguration ceremony of the plant.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the success that VinFast has made today did not come out of thin air but the efforts that the company has put in over the past months. The aspiration and idea are what it takes to lead a firm to its triumph.

This result is not only to prove that Vietnamese people can do what the world can do, but more importantly its success has directly contributed to the local economic and social achievements, Phuc stressed.

For Haiphong, the tax paid by VinFast will reach $348 million this year and the figure is expected to increase to over $652 million in 2020.

Phuc referred VinFast as a big guy being next to the giants in the auto industry. As such, VinFast ought to leverage its internal strength and be bold to cooperate with rivals to enhance its power and grow big.

After the inauguration of the factory, VinFast will organise the handover of the first batch of cars to its customers, meeting the committed deadline two months earlier than scheduled. VinFast Fadil cars, in particular, will be ready for customers to collect from June 17, 2019. The Lux A2.0 and Lux SA2.0 models, meanwhile, will be ready by the end of July 2019.

Currently, VinFast is rounding up its design for 12 other car models and electric motorbikes, which are expected to be ready right in 2019 and 2020.
