Viettel tops the list while Samsung Electronics Vietnam and Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) rank second and third, respectively, according to the list of 500 most profitable companies in Vietnam in 2017, briefly called Profit500 list just announced.

Vietnam Diary Product Joint-stock Company (Vinamilk) is the highest-ranking domestic private company at No. 4 in the list. In addition, two private companies, namely Truong Hai Automobile Co., Ltd and Hoa Phat Group rank No. 07 and No.10 in the list.
Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company (Vietnam Report) in combination with online newspaper VietNamNet has officially announced the list.
The others amongst top 10 companies include the State-owned enterprises, namely PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (ranked fifth) and three banks, including Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) (ranked sixth), Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) (ranked eighth) and Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) (ranked ninth).
According to Vietnam Report, rankings were objective and in compliance with current international standards. The main criteria included return on assets, return on equity, return on revenue, after-tax profit and corporate revenue. Companies pay no fee to be named in the Profit500 list.
In the 2017 Profit500 list, the construction, construction material and real estate sectors have the most companies named in the list, accounting for 17.4 per cent out of 100 per cent of named companies; the companies in finance and food and beverage sectors account for 11.4 per cent and 10 per cent.
The awarding ceremony in honor of Benefit500 companies in Vietnam in 2017 will be held on November 23, 2017 in Hanoi.
