Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the cooperation with Amazon Global Selling to help Vietnamese enterprises, especially small and medium sized ones, promote exports through e-commerce.
Vietnamese enterprises have the chance to reach more than 300 million customers on Amazon
Vu Ba Phu, Director General of Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade said, “Vietnam has more than 700,000 enterprises, of which 98 per cent are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition to traditional trade promotion initiatives, developing e-commerce is important.”
This cooperation will help Vietnamese enterprises reach more than 300 million customers, including more than 100 million prime customers in various markets of Amazon, as well as millions of wholesale buyers in the US, Europe and Japan.
The co-operation aims to support enterprises in Vietnam, especially SMEs, to reach out to Amazon.com, build the branding of Vietnam enterprises on Amazon.com.
There will be training programmes for Vietnamese SMEs on e-commerce to promote trade, export goods and learn global sales skills on Amazon.
"Vietnam is a country with many good products that can be easily sold on Amazon’s platform," Bernard Tay, Amazon’s regional director for Southeast Asia said.
“Vietnam has strengths in commodities such as handicrafts, apparel, leather products, and footwear ... which can sell well on Amazon. We assess that Vietnam is one of the leading countries in Southeast Asia to export goods through Amazon.”
However, language barrier causes difficulty for any businesses or retailers in Vietnam to access e-commerce platforms. In order to overcome that, Amazon Global Selling Southeast Asia in September launched the Global Selling website in Vietnamese and the official Vietnamese Facebook page to facilitate buyers in finding information, guidance and support to start their operations on Amazon.
These websites or fanpages also help those in need of selling goods on Amazon to learn about global buying trends.“Vietnamese enterprises are known for their leading manufacturing capabilities. Amazon Global Selling with global resources will further facilitate Vietnamese businesses to expand global business and build international brands,” Tay emphasized.
