Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Nguyen Duc Long has recently expressed support for Royal International Corporation studying the planning and design of a five-star hotel in Bai Chay ward, Quang Ninh province.

Design ideas for the five-star hotel, service of Royal International Corporation in Bai Chay.

The project is located at the green tree land area (plot No. 23) under Royal International Corporation’s detailed plan for the construction of villas and hotels approved by Quang Ninh People's Committee on August 5, 2008. In February 2017, the chairman of Quang Ninh province agreed to let this company set up a feasible project to build more super hotels in Bai Chay international tourist area.

According to the detailed planning introduced in February 2017, the five-star hotel will be constructed on an area of 8.7 hectares in zone 5a, Bai Chay, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province. It is expected that the five-star hotel cluster consists of four 28-34 storey buildings with about 1,500-1,800 rooms. The area of each room ranges from 24 to 85 square meters.

In order to ensure the general architectural space of the area, Long asked Royal International Corporation to update the adjusted plan of the five-star hotel and service in Bai Chay Ward to ensure the synchronous and comprehensive design of the construction.

Quang Ninh province also required the company to reduce the construction area to ensure the maximum construction density of only 25 per cent in accordance with the Vietnam Construction Standards. Accordingly, the company must lay the backward distance of the works with the Ha Long road at a minimum of 20 meters, arrange parking spaces in the basement only and set up no parking lot adjacent to Ha Long road.

The Corporation was also required to consult the idea for the planning of the Bai Chay tourist center proposed by the US’s Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG), one of the world's leading integrated design firms and ranked as second in the world among hotel architectural firms. Accordingly, the hotels along the road in Ha Long have the form of the parallel sails, creating the unique and arranging the maximum layout of the hotel room overlooking the Ha Long Bay. The company may also study the layout of two towers.

The company was also asked to study parking schemes, night lighting systems, and landscaping.

Royal International Corporation, formerly known as Royal International Joint Venture Co., a foreign-invested joint venture company established in Vietnam in 1994, started listing on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) as RIC on July 31, 2007.

The company's main operations include a number of key services such as Royal villas and restaurants area and amusement park exclusively for foreigners.

Royal International Corporation owns the sole casino Ha Long city, which is currently only open to foreigners. However, according to a recent report on the casino business in Vietnam of Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), since 2013, the Royal International Corporation has suffered from losses, especially in 2014 with the after-tax loss of over VND153 billion (roughly US$6.74 million).

In 2016, the Corporation reported a loss of VND18.55 billion (roughly US$0.82 million) and the first half of 2017 continue experiencing a loss of VND32 billion (roughly US$1.41 million), mainly from the casino business.
