Portrait of billion-dollar casinos in Vietnam (part 1)

As the casino business has long been considered a sensitive sector, Vietnam now has few legitimate casinos.
Up to now, Vietnam has a total of 7 licensed and operational casinos serving foreigners and three large casinos under construction, including Van Don (Quang Ninh), Phu Quoc and North Hoi An.
Do Son casino (Hai Phong city)
Do Son casino, which is the first one allowed to operate in Vietnam, was inaugurated in 1995. Previously, Do Son casino was located in the Van Hoa castle. After Do Son hotel was built, the casino was moved on the third floor of this hotel.
In Do Son casino, there is a ban on young people aged under 18, camera, bags or strange objects.
Royal International Gaming Club (Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province)
In Ha Long city, there exists only one casino named Royal International Gaming Club, which is under operation and serves foreigners only. This casino, which was put into operation in May 2003 by Royal International JSC, includes 4 floors with a total area of 7,250 square meters.
There are many tables with four types of games and 70 slot machines. The Gaming Club is open 24 hours a day. A bet depends on the type of game, but minimum from US$1 to 20 and maximum US$20,000.
Loi Lai casino (Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province)
Quang Ninh province has another casino named Loi Lai. Generally, Visitors come to the casino through tourism.
Loi Lai casino located in Loi Lai International hotel usually attracts Chinese and Hong Kong tourists, who come here by road. Loi Lai International Entertainment JSC is the first FDI company in Mong Cai.
Aristo International Hotel & Casino (Lao Cai province)
Established in 2002 at the border shared with Yunnan province, Aristo International Hotel has been upgraded to a five-star hotel with 300 rooms. In addition, the hotel also has a casino with 48 tables and about 300 slot machines.
95 per cent of the hotel’s stake is owned by Australia-based Donaco International Ltd. It is known that the two owners’ Donaco International Ltd, Joachim Lim and Benjamin Lim are nephews of the founder of the most powerful Malaysia-based Genting Group.
Phoenix International Club (Bac Ninh province)
Phoenix International Tourism Development Co., Ltd cooperated with Hong Kong-based Silver Heritage Group to build International Entertainment Phoenix on Phuc Thu Hill, Zone 6, Dap Cau ward, Bac Ninh city, Bac Ninh province.
