Petrolimex will stop selling Ron 92 petrol from January 1, 2018.

Petrolimex who holds 50 per cent of the domestic market share has urged its subsidiaries to make the conversion soon to sell E5 biofuel after the preparation is completed and the E5 sources are ready to be supplied.

The corporation also requires the distributors to conduct the replacement in accordance with the technical condition and market demand, with a petrol station choosing to serve only one kind of fuel or both RON 95 petrol and E5 biofuel. The process of preparing and supplying E5 biofuel must be careful, ensuring the safety and the quality of the gas.

In June 2017, the government of Vietnam approved the scheme on the development of biofuels and the roadmap for application of ratios for blending biofuels with traditional fuels, allowing trading units to sell RON 92 petrol and E5 gas parallelly until the end of 2017. From 2018, only E5 and RON 95 are distributed in the market.
