Singaporean energy conglomerate Nexif Ratch Energy SE Asia is forging ahead with a wind power venture in Binh Dinh province following engagement with local authorities.

After receiving a memorandum of understanding at the a recent investment promotion conference, Nexif Ratch Energy has proposed to the provincial People's Committee to continue guiding and supporting the wind power project.

The proposed wind power plant, slated for Canh Lien commune, Van Canh district, aims to generate 150 MW of power with an estimated investment of VND5.5 trillion ($220 million).

As part of the project's development, Nexif Ratch Energy plans to install a wind measurement mast to assess the region's energy potential.

Chairman Pham Anh Tuan of the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee confirmed the approval for Nexif Ratch Energy to install a wind measurement mast for the project in Van Canh district.

The mast's temporary occupancy and the subsequent 18-month survey period are agreed upon terms.

Nexif Ratch Energy has been in discussions with provincial authorities since 2023 regarding the wind measurement mast installation.

Recently, Binh Dinh approved the installation of a wind measurement mast covering an area of about 100 square metres in Canh Lien commune, Van Canh district, for research and surveying purposes.

In the past four years, Nexif Ratch Energy has been involved in multiple wind power projects in other Vietnamese provinces, averaging 50 MW per plant.

Alongside Nexif Ratch Energy, Nam Hai Technology has also been authorized to install wind measurement masts for wind power research in Van Canh district.

Binh Dinh's provincial planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, includes the Van Canh 1 and Van Canh 2 near-shore wind power projects with a combined capacity of 450 MW.
