According to the Government Online Portal www.chinhphu.vn, leaders of Mitsubishi Corporation, one of the most important shareholders of The Vung Ang II thermal power plant project, had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on September 18.

At this meeting, the Deputy PM asked the parties to further actively negotiate to implement the project, harmonizing the interests of all three parties including the State, the people, and the investors.

“The State needs electricity to ensure the energy security and create an equal environment for investors. The people need affordable energy price to meet their living and production needs while the suitable electricity price is very necessary for investors to ensure their profit,” said Deputy PM.

Deputy PM also assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance and Vietnam Electricity Corporation to accelerate the process of reviewing and finding suitable measures to negotiate with investors.

Senior Vice President of Mitsubishi Corporation Yoshinori Katayama said that under the guidance of the government of Vietnam, parties have removed many bottlenecks in the negotiation in order to soon reach the agreement to start constructing and operating the Vung Ang II thermal power plant.

The 1200 MW project thermal power plant project invested by Vung Ang II thermal power Joint Stock Company (VAPCO). The plant is expected to operate its unit No. 01 in 2021 and unit No. 02 in 2022.
