According to Hanoi Fire Fighting and Prevention Police, there were about 800 high-rise apartment blocks and construction sites in the area of Hanoi. However, 79 blocks and sites violated fire-safety regulations, 78 of which had gone into operation in defiance of lacking fire-safety certificates.

The violation list included some large projects, such as: Block HH1 by Alaska Land Joint Stock Company, Dai Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District (FLC Garden City project); Sakura Tower by Hung Tien Kim Son Joint Stock Company, Thanh Xuan Trung Ward, Thanh Xuan District; 13 projects by Lai Chau Construction Company No.1, located in Ha Dong and Hoang Mai District;…

Hanoi Fire Fighting and Prevention Police has applied strict fines and suspended the certificate-issuing process on these project, until fire-safety regulations are satisfied. TheDepartment would continue to aid and accelerate the fire-safety compliance process of the underqualified projects. Residents are warned not to move in until these projects pass the inspection. Furthermore, investors who deliberately breach the rules would have their names and companies published on the media and may be prosecuted.
