Multi-business giant Vingroup has announced the establishment of Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence, which will be led by a former Google specialist.
VinAI Research Institute will study fundamental science issues in artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning, deep learning, image and video processing and user interaction.
The institute aims to build a core force of leading AI experts, especially young ones, for Vingroup in particular and for Vietnam in general.
The institute is led by Dr Bui Hai Hung, a former senior specialist of Google DeepMind.
Dr Hung is regarded as an AI inventor at Google. He owns nearly 100 scientific studies published in professional journals and more than 10 technological patents evaluated in the United States.
He used to lead a team of experts from many world-leading universities in the CALO effort, whose most famous spin-off is Siri of Apple iOS.
VinAI Research Institute is the next step of Vingroup to gradually become a world-class group of technology, industry and service.
