Five pharmaceutical businesses are sanctioned for violation of food safety laws

Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) under the Ministry of Health has decided to impose an administrative sanction of VND192 million (equivalent to US$8,400) on five companies violating food safety regulations, including four based Ha Noi and one based in Ho Chi Minh City.

Phuc Vinh Remedy Herbal Joint-Stock Company (address: Lot 4-6.2, Thach That - Quoc Oai Industrial Zone, Phung Xa ward, Thach That district, Ha Noi) is fined a penalty of VND65 million (equivalent to US$2,800) for two violations: Advertising of functional food Hoat huyet (blood activation) MC3 is carried out without review and confirmation of the State’s competent agencies; Advertising of functional food product Hoat huyet MC3 makes audience misunderstand Hoat huyet MC3 as a kind of medicine.

USA Joint-venture Pharmaceutical Joint-Stock Company (address: No. 76D5 Dai Kim Urban Area, Hoang Mai ward, Ha Noi) is fined a penalty of VND37 million (equivalent to US$1,600) for two violations: functional food Trinh nu hoang cung has not been periodically tested; Internal circulation of functional food Trinh nu hoang cung with lot No. 0115, manufacture date: May 08, 2015 and expiry date: May 08, 2018 violates regulations on mandatory labelling.

Gia Phat Trading and Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (address: No. 15A, Lane 193/53 Nam Du street, Linh Nam ward, Hoang Mai district, Ha Noi) is fined a penalty of VND25 million (equivalent to US$1,100) for failure to conduct periodic testing for functional food Trinh nữ hoàng cung GP.

Viet Nam Goldhealth Pharmaceutical Joint-Stock Company (address: No. 102, Yen Nguu collective zone, Van Dien town, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi) is fined a penalty of VND25 million (equivalent to US$1,100) for the advertising three products (TPBVSK GHV KSOL, GHV BONE, GENK STF) in incompliance with the content as reviewed and confirmed by the State's competent agencies.

VTC Biotech Joint-Stock Company (address: No. 371 Nguyen Kiem, ward No. 3, Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh city) is fined a penalty of VND40 million (equivalent to US$1,750) for two violations: Advertising of functional food Hong Van Linh-Versicolor mycelium (Polysaccharide ≥ 4.65g/100g) is carried out without review and confirmation of the State’s competent agencies. This product has not been periodically tested, either.

Besides administrative sanction, the VFA also requests these companies to remove the infringing advertisement content, correct the advertisement content on their websites and recall the mis-labelled products and the destroy these labels as regulated.
