eJOY closes seed fundraising round of hundreds of thousand USD
Vietnam-based edtech startup eJOY recently announced the completion of a seed fundraising round of hundreds of thousand USD.
This investment round is led by ThinkZone Ventures with the participation of BK Fund, an investment fund founded by many alumni entrepreneurs of the Hanoi university of science and technology.
eJOY is an edtech startup that develops cross-platform applications to serve the active learning needs of learners. Instead of delivering curriculum content, eJOY creates a tech product that lets learners decide what they want to learn via YouTube, Netflix, Coursera, and other platforms.
Diep Bui, CEO of eJOY said that the most sustainable and natural way to learn English is to accumulate gradually in daily activities such as reading books, watching movies.
Besides learning English via fixed courses, the startup wants to give learners more flexibility in choosing their favorite English content from movies and entertainment, so they can maintain a lifelong passion for discovery, learning, and growth.
Currently, eJOY is the only tool that can connect video websites for online learning in bilinguals such as TedTalk, Netflix, Amazon, Coursera… and has more than 1 million users worldwide, with 30 per cent are foreigners. Moreover, eJOY also received a 4.9-star rating with over 300,000 weekly active users.
“The investment will be used to continue to improve the product for intermediate audiences and expand to beginners learning English, as well as testing other languages with the same method of learning via movies and Youtube,” said Diep.
“eJOY really impresses us by the enthusiasm of the founding team in building a high-quality product, which has been proven by the number of users and business traction. This is the key to the success of every startup”, ThinkZone Ventures representative shared about the investment.
Besides the capital investment, ThinkZone Ventures will also actively support eJOY in the development process through a network of experienced experts and partners, with a total size of support packages up to more than $150,000, helping eJOY to make its vision come true.
Moreover, with the participation of BKFund, eJOY will be able to reach out to a large student community through the influence of HUST and the network of universities in Vietnam.
