The franchise of Cong Cafe chain, which possesses the unique decoration style of Vietnam’s command economy period, will be located on Yeonnam-dong Street, a hub for South Korean youth in Seoul.
Cong Cafe chose Seoul because Vietnam is now a favourite destination of South Korean tourists. Therefore, visitors may want to enjoy the taste of Vietnam back in their homeland.
It is expected that the franchise will be located on Yeonnam-dong Street, where South Korean young people often gather.
Asia Time said that employees of the franchise were being trained in Vietnam. This source revealed that the main bartender at Cong Cafe’s Seoul franchise was an experienced Vietnamese bartender living in Seoul.
The Cong Cafe chain was launched in 2007. The concept is old furniture with new ideas. The first Cong Cafe shop is a small café on the old coffee street of Hanoi - Trieu Viet Vuong street.
The name “Cong” is the first letter of the formal name of Vietnam, with the unique decoration style of Vietnam’s command economy period.
Through the franchise model, Cong Cafe has developed a network of over 50 cafés in Vietnam. At Cong Cafe, apart from drinks, customers can enjoy typical Vietnamese snacks such as “banh mi”, peanut candy, sunflower seeds. These specialities will also be served at the South Korean franchise.
Previously, Cong cafe’s founder revealed that some developers wanted to open franchises in Thailand and Germany, but she did not agree. Hence, the café at Yeonnam-dong will be the first franchise of Cong Caphe in foreign markets.
