Tech disrupting budget hotel industry in Vietnam

Disruptive technology is changing the face of the global hospitality sector and it is definitely transforming Vietnam’s budget hotel industry in one way or another. To see how it is happening right now, Troy Griffiths, deputy managing director at Savills Vietnam, will give an insight into how tech has been driving the budget hospitality and opening up opportunities for the tourism industry as a whole here.

Despite strong visitor growth, Vietnam tourism ranks low

The country has experienced 25 per cent growth on international visitor arrivals between 2016 and 2018, with tourism receipts accounting for some 11 per cent of GDP, according to Maybank Kim Eng Research.

High hopes for Vietnam tourism

The persistent shortcomings cannot hold back the desire to turn Vietnam into a global tourism hub.

Is Vietnam losing its appeal to Western tourists?

Western tourists are not better or more desirable than those from East Asia but the tourism industry’s growing dependence on domestic and regional tour groups may be unhealthy in the long run.
