The micro apartments sized 20 square meters would not be allowed to be constructed in Ho Chi Minh City anymore.
According to a documen in response to the Ministry of Construction on September 11, Ho Chi Minh City’s People Committee does not agree to license the projects on constructing and developing micro apartments sized under 45 square meters.
The document stated that the minimum area of social and commercial apartments are 30 square meters and 45 square meters respectively.
The requirement was made as Ho Chi Minh City has the large population and the fastest urbanization and population growth rates in Vietnam. Building under 45 square meter apartments would lead to detrimental impacts such as increasing the population size, putting the technical and social infrastructure under pressure and destroying the transportation planning.
