The Prime Minister: "Re-planning Hanoi railway station should be cautiously implemented."

TheLEADERThe Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just requested that the Hanoi People's Committee should be cautious of re-planning Hanoi railway station and surrounding areas to ensure a sustainable development.

As reported by TheLEADER, in the middle of September, Hanoi People's Committee submitted planning scheme of Hanoi railway station and surrounding areas to competent ministries and departments for review and suggestion. 

According to the planning scheme, Hanoi railway station and surrounding areas will be divided into nine functional zones with the highest 70-storey building (equivalent to 200 meters).

Currently, the population in the planned area is around 34,000 people and predicted to increase by 10 per cent each year. Therefore, the total population in the planned area will reach to 44,000 people. Thereby, the population of the inner-city area (the old inner-city districts) will increase from 800,000 to 824,000 people.

If the planning scheme was approved for execution, it would certainly affect the urban development and transportation of Ha Noi and landscape of historical heritage in the historic inner-city areas.

Previously, the cultural area including the Temple of Literature and the area surrounding Hanoi railway station were determined to be preserved; therefore, no high-rise buildings are allowed to be built...
