A foreign company liable to a fine because of polluting environment

TheLEADERNinh Binh Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision on administrative sanction to Silrang Electronics Co., Ltd, which is specialized in manufacturing electronic components, for discharging unqualified wastewater to the environment.

According to Decision No. 134 / QĐ - UBND of Ninh Binh People's Committee, Silrang Electronics (based in Gian Khau Industrial Park, Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province) has violated regulations on discharging unqualified wastewater with pollution parameters exceeding the allowable limits, to the environment.

Specifically, the company has discharged wastewater with pollution parameters exceeding by 10 times or over, which violates the provisions specified in Point a, Clause 6, Article 13, Decree No. 155/2016/ND - CP of the Government dated on November 18, 2016, on sanctioning of administrative violations in the field of environmental protection. Therefore, Silrang Electronics is liable to a fine of VND128 million (US$5,638).

Silrang Electronics is also requested, within one month from the date of receiving the sanctioning decision, to repair and remedy the wastewater treatment system. Its wastewater discharged to the environment must be thoroughly treated to meet the standard14: 2008/BTNMT, column B as committed in the report on environmental impact assessment which has been approved by the State's competent authorities in accordance with the provisions of Point a, Clause 9, Article 13 of Decree No. 155/2016/ND-CP.

The decision also states that Silrang Electronics must strictly abide by the decision. In case Silrang Electronics fails to comply the decision, it will be enforced for the implementation.
