Vietnam NA will continue to discuss the draft Law on Special Administrative and Economic Units

It is notable that the draft Law on Special Administrative and Economic Units submitted to the National Assembly for approval at this meeting includes six chapters and 85 articles. This draft previously was reviewed and commented at the fourth session.

The fifth working session opened in Hanoi yesterday (May 21, 2018) and it will take place during 20 working days.

It will focus on three key topics including law making, supreme supervision and thematic discussions and question and answer activity.

In details, Vietnam National Assembly will spend 12 days making law which is equivalent to 60 per cent of this session’s time. The legislature plans to debate and pass eight laws and one resolution as well as make comment on other eight law projects.

The draft laws to be approved in this session are Law on Denunciation (revised), Law on Special Administrative and Economic Units, Law on Measurement and Maps, Law on Competition (revised), Law on Cyber Security, Law on National Defense (revised), Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Physical Activity and Sports and Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Planning.

In addition to law making, Vietnam National Assembly plans to spend 3.5 days on thematic supervision and key issues.

It will ratify 2016 State budget balance, discuss the report on supplementary evaluation of socioeconomic-budget performance in 2017 and in first months of 2018.

It will also conduct supreme supervision of enforcement of laws and policies on State capital management and use at enterprises and equitization of state-owned enterprises from 2011 to 2016.

Besides, Vietnam National Assembly will debate and approve thematic supervision program in 2019.

The fifth session is the first one having question and answer activity in which each member of National Assembly can have one minute to address their question and after three questions, the cabinet members must answer in three minutes.
