Vietnam Beverage still dubious about registering for Sabeco auction

TheLEADERVietnam Beverage is a newly-established company in Vietnam, 49% of which is indirectly held by BeerCo Ltd, a ThaiBev-owned brewer based in Hong Kong is considering to join in the Sabeco auction as the registration deadline on December 17th is coming.

Among the potential buyers, ThaiBev is being rated the highest.

ThaiBev brewery announced that Vietnam Beverage had registered to buy more than 25% of Sabeco in the December 18th auction only to meet Sabeco’s competitive bidding requirements.

By December 12, Vietnam Beverage has not yet either registered for the auction or approved any contracts or agreements on the purchase of Sabeco's shares in this auction.

ThaiBev claimed that there would be no certainty about the amount and price of Sabeco's shares purchased.

Recently, the Vietnam Beverage has raised the capital to VND681 billion (about US$30 million).

On December 11th, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce said that Vietnam Beverage had registered to buy at least 25% of Sabeco in the auction next Monday.

According to the plan, Sabeco, Vietnam’s biggest brewer, will auction 53.59% (out of 89.59%) of its state-owned shares with the offering price of VND320,000 (roughly US414.11) per share.
