Ten projects in Son Tra Peninsula loomed to be cut

The municipal authority of Da Nang city has published the official report on the overhaul and overall plan to develop Son Tra Peninsula and the report has been submitted to the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, six principles to develop Son Tra Peninsula were listed, including retaining the finished projects which have operated effectively, ensuring the security and defense, respecting the biodiversity conservation especially protecting the areas expected to accommodate red-shanked Douc Langurs, ensuring the height of projects, with the maximum of 200 meters being allowed, developing the common interest of investors and community in the direction of sustainable development and allowing no factor of residence in the Son Tra Peninsula.

According to the report, six projects which did not meet the requirements were proposed to develop tourism and 10 other projects are considered to be cut. Also, two projects which were licensed and do not violate the principles are retained. The projects in Son Tra peninsula were formed in the period from 2003 to 2012 in accordance with the Resolution No 33/NQ-TW on October 16, 2003 of the Politburo on developing Da Nang in the period of national industrialization and modernization as well as Da Nang’s orientation to develop the city till 2020.

In December 2017, the Da Nang People's committee approved to license 18 projects having the total area of 1,222.5ha to develop tourism. Three projects were successfully invested, including Da Nang Intercontinental Sun Peninsula Resort, Son Tra Resort and Spa and the Bai Trem eco-tourism resort. Besides, there are three projects which had been implemented but stopped temporarily and 11 projects which have not been conducted yet.
