PM Phuc serves as Head of the National Steering Committee for SEZ establishment

TheLEADERPrime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc has inked the Decision 56/QD-TTg on setting up a National Steering Committee for the establishment of special administrative and economic zones (SEZ).

Three SEZs, which are under the development scheme, include Van Don (Quang Ninh province), Northern Van Phong (Khanh Hoa province) and Phu Quoc (Kien Giang province).

In accordance with the Decision, the Prime Minister is the Head of the National Steering Committee for the establishment of SEZ (Steering Committee). 

Deputy Heads consist of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission Pham Minh Chinh and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan are appointed permanent members.

Other members include heads of relevant agencies, ministries, departments and localities.

The Steering Committee functions to direct and coordinate the settlement of important and inter-branch issues related to SEZs under the competence of the Government or the Prime Minister.

The Steering Committee also assigns specific responsibilities to its members in accordance with the Organization and Operation Regulations promulgated by the Prime Minister.

An Assistance Board to the Steering Committee is composed of representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), the Government Office, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and some relevant agencies.

The budget served for the Steering Committee will be ensured by the State budget and included in MPI’s annual expenditure estimates as specified in Law on the State Budget.
