Credit growth in 2017 estimated to reach 17 per cent

The deposit interest rates are relatively stable. Interest rates in VND are common at 0.8 - 1 per cent per annum for term deposits of less than one month; 4.3 - 5.4, 5.3 - 6.5 and 6.5 - 7.3 per cent pa for term deposits from 1 month to less than 6 months, from 6 months to less than 12 months and from one year upwards, respectively.

The common lending rates for priority sectors are from 6 per cent – 6.5 per cent pa for short term; 9 - 10 per cent pa for medium and long term.

Lending rates for normal business sectors are at 6.8 - 9 per cent pa for short term; 9.3 - 11 per cent pa for medium and long term.

In general, the credit structure continues to focus on priority business sectors and key projects in line with the Government's policy in order to effectively support economic growth.

The growth of insurance market in 2017 maintains positive. Total insurance premiums are estimated at VND105.6 trillion (US$4.6 billion), up 21.2 per cent compared to last year.

Specifically, life insurance premiums reached VND65 trillion (US$2.86 billion), up 28.9 per cent; non-life insurance revenue reached VND40.6 trillion (US$1.79 billion), up 10.6 per cent.

Total assets of insurance companies are estimated to reach VND302.9 trillion (US$13.3 billion), up 23.4 per cent compared to 2016.
