TheLEADERMinistry of Information and Communications has issued a circular regulating the installation of public mailboxes in urban and residential areas, and centralized mailboxes in apartment and office buildings.

Centralized mailboxes to be required in new condo and office buildings

According to the Circular No. 30/2017/TT-BTTTT, there must be centralized mailboxes when building new condominiums and office buildings in order to facilitate the distribution and collection of letters, newspapers, and magazines.

In condominiums and office buildings that have been put into operation without centralized mailboxes, the management boards or the management and operation units of the condominiums or office buildings are responsible for arranging the installation of centralized mailboxes. This installation must be based on the actual demand in the area.

Regarding the installation of public mailboxes in urban and residential areas, the circular stipulates that enterprises providing public postal services define the areas that need installed public mailboxes and ask investors, the management units of those areas to arrange the location to set up public mailboxes. This must be based on the national technical standards on quality of public postal services and public-utility services in press release activities.

The location of mailboxes should be arranged in the places which are easy to see and access, facilitating the postal activities of residents in the areas and the public postal services providers.

This Circular will take effect on January 1, 2018.
