TheLEADERDespite having gained no profit after 8 years and spent up to VND500 billion (roughly US$22.28 million) investing in Bphone, CEO of Bkav, the leading firm in network security, software, smartphone manufacturing and smart home, Nguyen Tu Quang still believes in its ambition and mission.

Since 2009, Bkav has invested around VND500 billion (roughly US22.28 million) in Bphone which has brought no profit to the company.

However, according to CEO Nguyen Tu Quang, the top priority is not the quantity of products sold but customers’ confidence that Vietnam can go further in the international arena, which has been seen as Bkav’s ambition and mission after a fierce internal controversy.

Bkav’s primary source of revenue so far has been from antivirus software sales which are also the source of money invested in Bphone.

Quang said that the antivirus software is mostly sold to individuals instead of state agencies as they are the long-term and stable group of customers.

The quantity of Bphone ordered has exceeded Bkav’s initial expectation; therefore, the company and the Mobile World (The Gioi Di Dong), the leading retailer of mobile electronics in Vietnam who has co-operated with Bphone, agreed to stop receiving orders until September 2017.
